Field Trip to the Art Museum

Feb. 14, 2017: Tuesday
Happy Valentine's Day!!
We had a busy morning before heading out on our quarter 3 field trip.
Language Arts/Reading - we got to finish Frindle and discuss the story. The students were introduced to "how" adverbs and practiced using them in sentences. Finally, the students got to make a Valentine's Day card.
Math - used different strategies to divide by 8 or 9.
In the afternoon we took a beautiful walk in the sun to the Art Museum. We got to see three exhibits about old China, Art Yummy, and New Plant Paradise. There were many activities for the students to have fun with in each place. It was great exercise to walk to the park as well on this lovely day.

Feb. 13, 2017: Monday
It's great to see the sun warming us all up today after a chilly weekend.
The morning Assembly was a great one for the Talented Third Graders as we had to make a presentation on "Prudence." Last week the students wrote an acrostic poem and took turns telling the school what prudence means. Great job on stage, students.
Also during Assembly, Joshua was acknowledged for his violin talent after he received 2 first place, and 1 third place medals at a competition over the weekend. Congratulations, Josh!
After the exciting Assembly, the students shared what they did on the weekend. Next, the students listened to the reading of Chapter 14 in Frindle. One more chapter to go.
In Math, the students used different strategies to divide when 7 is the divisor. They also got to make a math story problem.
We began a new chapter in Social Studies (chapter 8) after reviewing last week's quiz. They then defined culture and recognized that the world has many different cultures.
Science class consisted of reviewing for the quiz on Wednesday.
We finally have the time to join up with our Reading Buddies from K2 in ECA. It was great to see them interacting again.

2) Math p. 79 (please complete only the even numbers)

NOTICES:
- Field trip tomorrow afternoon - PLEASE BRING: PE casual clothes and a warm jacket/hat/mittens as we are walking there, your National Health ID card, small backpack, healthy snack.
- students have received 3 quizzes to complete their corrections. Please return them with a parent's signature by Wednesday
- please bring in Scholastic orders and money tomorrow
