- Classroom activities, including gift exchange
PLEASE BRING TOMORROW:
- you in your pyjamas
- your casual uniforms
- props for the Christmas performance (ex: bag, pants, etc. Only a few students need to bring something and they know what they need)
- wrapped gifts for the gift exchange
- your back packs to take some stuff home
- a fun, almost holiday, attitude
Reminder for Friday - please arrive to school before 8:30am, the performance will begin at 9am sharp, and parents are more than welcome to come and watch the wonderful show

Well done today, students. I liked that you took your time in writing your exams, but I still think you need to check your answers more carefully. Please keep this in mind when writing tomorrow's exams.
Wednesday - Social Studies and Reading exams
Thursday - fun day with rehearsal, pyjamas, pizza party, and gift exchange. Feel free to bring in your wrapped gifts tomorrow or Thursday.
Friday - Christmas performance and early dismissal for winter holidays
It is still Wednesday tomorrow, so feel free to wear your PE uniforms, but remember that we also need the PE uniforms as an extra for pyjama day.

Review day!!!
Today was a full day of review to prepare for the final exams. We played different review games and everyone played and behaved very well.
The Talented Third Graders also finished the Science Final Project presentations, and here are their final products. I was truly impressed with the ecosystems the students created, but especially impressed with the great group work of each team. Fantastic job, students!

Homework: remember that you do not have to complete the Think Tac Toe, but I do want you to read the questions and try to answer them on your own.

NOTICES:

Dec. 9, 2016: Friday
The students had a wonderful week wrapping up units in the homeroom, and writing exams. I think their brains deserve a bit of a break before studying for the last of the final exams next week.
This morning we started with a spelling test, followed by practice for the Christmas performance.
Before lunch we had Math, and we reviewed for the Language Arts final exam, and also the Math final exam.
After lunch we had Science and we had two groups give their presentations on their ecosystems. I'm very impressed with both their final products and presentations. One more group will present on Monday, and I will post all the pictures then, too.

HOMEWORK:
1) please note - this homework is only optional, so students do not have to complete it if they don't want to. However, I will be giving Dojo points for every task completed. Students have a Think Tac Toe sheet that covers material from each final exam next week. There are some good study questions on it, so I recommend at least reading through the questions and thinking about the answers. If you choose to write the answers, please do so in your Social Studies notebook.
2) Reading Logs will not be counted as a grade next week, but I still highly recommend you continue your routine of reading.
NOTICES:

We had a wonderful Christmas Mass this morning to put us into the Christmas spirit. Only one week to go until the holidays.
Following Mass, the students had their Music final exam. We had Social Studies in the afternoon and the students reviewed the government using the Smartboard.
In Math, the students used special properties to multiply when 0 or 1 is a factor.
Secret Message - 1 more week
ECA - time to plan the Science final project presentations, which will begin tomorrow.
HOMEWORK:

Dec. 7, 2016: Wednesday
It was a wonderful Wednesday for the students as they worked towards completing numerous tasks for quarter 2.
During Language Arts / Reading class, the students worked hard at trying to complete their compare/contrast essay. We also reviewed some of the Cafe menu strategies we learned, and also identified contractions with 'not.'
The students also had Health review, and Art final exam.
Secret Message of the Day - The Lizard of Oz
In Science, the students completed their ecosystems! What a fantastic job by everyone. Check out the details in these ecosystems! The students will now prepare to present their ecosystems to the class on Friday and Monday, as well as meet with me individually to answer questions.
HOMEWORK:
1) Social Studies - p. 155, and also corrections on p. 153 if needed
2) Reading Logs
3) Optional - Compare/contrast essay - we will have some time in class tomorrow to work on it. Your essay is due on Friday.

Dec. 6, 2016: Tuesday
I hope you all had the chance to see the lovely pictures from the Field Trip. There will be more added in the days to come as we collect the pictures from all teachers.
The morning began with the students writing an introduction and conclusion to their compare/contrast essay. They then made inferences, listened to the Wizard of Oz reading, and finished off using irregular verbs in sentences.
During Math, the students used strategies to multiply when 10 is a factor. We also stole some time to practice for the Christmas performance.
The students got to show their patriotism for a country as they began to make a flag with symbols for a new country.
Building their ecosystem was the task in Science again today. So far the students are doing an amazing job working together.
HOMEWORK:
1) Social Studies p. 152-153, only complete #1, 5-9

- Art Final exam tomorrow, Music and Chinese on Thursday
- Christmas performance costume - please bring in a green and a red shirt on Thursday, and we will decide which color to wear for the performance.
