Oct. 31, 2016: Monday

Welcome to the start of a fresh week, and hopefully you still have some candy left from All Saints Day.

It was great to see our Student Council be recognized in Assembly this morning. They are this week's Angels of the Week for all of their hard work they had last week.

In Reading and Phonics, we reviewed Max's Words as we will have a short quiz tomorrow.

In Math, the students conducted a survey and recorded the results. We then began to find the mean, median and mode of the data (but we didn't have time to finish).

Social Studies consisted of the students presenting the information they found on local, state, and national governments.

We discovered different plant adaptations during Science class.

We paid a visit to the K2 class and continued with Reading buddies in ECA.

HOMEWORK:
1) Social Studies - p. 7 in Jenny and the Government fairy booklet
2) Science - p. 125-126
3) Reading Logs - we need to start getting better at completing the reading logs, please.

NOTICES:
- quiz on Max's Words tomorrow
- secret message of the day - tickle Tuesday

Enjoy your evening!

Oct. 28, 2016: Friday - All Saints Day

Happy All Saints Day!

We had a fun morning having a Halloween themed spelling test. The students then chose to decorate their trick or treat bags, or complete a booklet of Halloween themed writing activities.

In Math, the students were introduced to the take home unit exam and instructions were given. The students then completed numerous Halloween themed problem solving questions.

The afternoon was full of fun activities!  Grades 1-3 were split into groups and alternated classrooms for 20 minutes each. Good times were had. We also went trick or treating to the office to get some fine treats. The parade is always a good time. Thanks to all students for participating in this year's All Saints Day.

2) Secret Message: I see ghosts.
3) Reading Logs

NOTICES:

- All Saints Day tomorrow - regular classes in the morning, followed by lunch and recess. After lunch break we will have time to change into costumes, and maybe watch a Halloween movie or play a game. We will then do activities in the G1, G2, and G3 classrooms from 1:30-2:30pm. Parents are welcome to come at that time to watch the Costume parade that will begin at 2:35pm. Prizes and announcements will occur at 3:25pm. Parents are also more than welcome to dress in a costume as well.

Have a great evening!
