We began with learning about the Daily 5 again, and the students were introduced to Work on Writing. They started to list numerous topics in their notebooks so they will be ready to write when they need. We also built our reading and writing staminas. The students seem as excited as I am to get the Daily 5 program going.
In Social Studies the students stated things that make a good community. We talked about how people move to a location with natural resources. The students got to be actors and pretended to use a natural resource and the other students guessed what resource it was.
Finally, we identified the place value of numbers to 999 in Math. The students took turns using the interactive whiteboard to write standard and expanded forms of numbers.
HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 2
2) Language worksheet - read the comic and answer the questions. Basically, they have to find the nouns in the sentences.
NOTICES:
- tomorrow is PE day and it's also the second Friday of the month so that means casual clothes day. Please wear your PE clothes to school (Sports Day shirts on Fridays), and also bring a change of clothes. Please make sure your casual clothing is appropriate for school.
- please bring in a package of tissue for classroom use as specified in the introduction letter. Usually a package comes with 12-16 packs of tissue. If we all bring one in, it should be enough for the year.
- also, please hand in your electives choices (you have until Monday)
Thanks again for your help this week. We have one more day, and the students have been wonderful all week even though I know it's been a long week for them returning from vacation.
