August 9, 2016

Good afternoon parents and students! We had a very busy day today that began with Language Arts and Reading. The students had an introduction to the Daily 5 literacy program I will be teaching. I will explain it more on during the Parents meet the Teacher day August 20th. We also identified the parts of a story after story time.
After recess we used numbers in different ways in Math.
In Social Studies we gave examples of what makes a good community.
Finally, in Science, we identified the steps to an investigation and used our senses to make observations. We also did a quick experiment to see if objects will sink or float.

HOMEWORK:
1) Reading worksheet - students signed out a classroom book and must use words to complete the worksheet. They do not have to read the book.

NOTICES:
- the Student-Parent Handbook was taken home. Please read the handbook, tear off the back page, and have your child and yourself sign it, and return it back to me.
- the elective sheet was also handed out and the students have until next Monday to hand in their elective choices.
- tomorrow is PE day, so please wear your casual uniform
- please sign up with Class Dojo so I can begin to send you messages if needed

Also, just a friendly reminder to begin handing in the class fund, lunch payment, as well as bringing in the materials as described on the introduction letter.

Thanks for your help.

Have a great night.
Mr. Y
