May 16, 2017: Tuesday

It was a busy busy day for our last full Tuesday of homeroom classes, but it was a fun day for sure.

We switched things around today and began with Math. The students made equivalent fractions and practiced using fraction strips.

We then proceeded to Social Studies. It was time for the students to prepare for their business of selling a product. The grade 2 class joined us and watched the advertisements and then were given $5 of play money to purchase any of the products. Great job and fun times were had by all. Please see the videos and pictures below.

After lunch we had Language Arts. The students identified and used homophones properly, read and responded to Aero and Officer Mike, wrote dialogue using quotation marks.

To end the day the students observed the chemical change of adding baking soda into vinegar. The students worked with a partner to answer questions about this inquiry lesson. Please see the pictures at the end of the blog.

HOMEWORK:
1) Book Report - you should be finished your worksheets and/or diorama/t-shirt. Please practice your presentation (we will also practice in class tomorrow). Reminder that during your presentation you will need to retell your story using introductory words (First, Next, etc.), and also be able to explain the scene in your product.
2) Science p. 393-394 (if you didn't have time to finish in school)

NOTICES:
- quiz on Aero and Officer Mike tomorrow
- Chinese final exam tomorrow
- PE final exam as well
- no spelling test this week

Have a wonderful evening!

SOLD OUT!!  All their supply was bought, and now they are all rich!

Time to crunch some numbers and find out how much profit they made.......

Science Experiment pictures - we added baking soda to water as the control, and then compared it to when we added baking soda into vinegar.
