May 9, 2017: Tuesday

It was a super busy, busy day today, but the students were engaged and worked very hard. They are showing me that they are almost ready for Grade 4. Here's what we did:

  • Language Arts/Reading - listened to Chapter 10 of the Chocolate Touch, edited/revised a research report, defined new vocabulary from Aero and Officer Mike, used introductory words with a comma after
  • Math - Reviewed perimeter and area, and began a new unit on Fractions
  • Social Studies - made a budget for the future
  • Science - distinguished between a mixture and a solution. We used ingredients to make a solution called lemonade. Pictures can be found below. I was very impressed at how well the students could use a knife safely and carefully.
  • ECA - the students got a wonderful surprise from Josh as he just returned from Canada and shared some rather sweet treats for everyone because his birthday was on Sunday. Thank you for sharing, Josh.

HOMEWORK:
1) Social Studies - My Future Booklet - p. 6-7
2) LA Research Report good copy - due on Friday, May 12. Any reports handed in on Monday will have a late penalty. I suggest slowly working on it every day. You may write your report in your Work on Writing notebook, or you can email it to me. The choice is yours.
3) Book Report Final Project - please continue reading your book, answering the chapter summary, and perhaps some work on another worksheet.

NOTICES:
- only a spelling test this week
- PE tomorrow, please bring an extra shirt you can change into after PE if you feel yours will be too sweaty

Have a great evening!

Mr. Y
