May 3, 2017: Wednesday

Today was the day filled with many specialty classes, so the Talented Third Graders were hard at work mostly outside of the homeroom today.

This morning the students listened to Chapter 7 from the Chocolate Touch and realized that John's problem is getting worse, but he decided to eat some healthy foods. The students then worked on their research report and began their introduction. Finally, we reviewed vocabulary from Jump! and proper nouns.

We switched Science with tomorrow's Math so we could write a Math quiz today.

In ECA, the students received part of their Reading Final Exam (please see homework #3 below for more information).

HOMEWORK:
1) Eng. p. 90
2) Reading - Comprehension questions from Jump! Please copy the questions and answer them using full sentences.  a) Explain how Michael Jordan is a competitor. Use an example from the story.  b) Why is Michael Jordan a professional? If you could be a professional in a sport, what sport would it be?   c) Write three questions you would want to ask Michael Jordan if you got to meet him tomorrow.
3) Reading Log - please begin reading the story you chose for your final book report project. The students will be completing a Book Report Project. We read through the directions and expectations. Please be familiar with the assignment and rubrics and slowly work towards completing this project in 2 weeks. Please read your book every day and enter it in your Reading Log. There is a lot of work to complete this final project so be sure you are working on it continually. Please let me know if you have any questions.

NOTICES:
- the ITBS scores have been returned and handed out to the students. I would like to say that I am extremely proud of each student and the score you achieved. Please read through the letter that is attached to the score, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
- quizzes tomorrow - Social Studies (Chp 7, Lessons 1-3), and Reading - Jump!
- spelling test on Friday
- please see yesterday's blog for pictures of our Field Trip

Once again, congratulations to everyone for doing an amazing job in your ITBS exams.

Have a fantastic evening!

Mr. Yaremchuk
