May 8, 2017: Monday

I hope everybody had a lovely weekend in the nice hot sun.

This morning we had Assembly, followed by Reading and Phonics. The students listened to chapter 9 of the Chocolate Touch and were introduced to some new vocabulary words for our new Journeys story, "Aero and Officer Mike."

After recess we had Library and then Math. During Math the students practiced finding the perimeter and area of figures, and used measurements to solve problems.

In Social Studies we distinguished between spending and saving, and also looked how a budget is used.

The students described and showed physical changes in matter during Science.

In ECA, we had our last time with our reading buddies in K2. They were so generous to share a snack and make a beautiful thank you card for us. It was wonderful to see how well their reading improved over the school year.

HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 118
2) Chocolate Touch booklet Chapter 7-9 (two pages total)
3) Reading Log/Book Report Project - as a reminder to all, please work on this project every day. You should be about half done reading your book, and I recommend having your book finished by the end of the week. Also, please write in the chapter summaries as soon as you read so you can complete all the work piece by piece.

NOTICES:
- Spelling test on Friday
- final exams begin next week with specialty classes
- please return your quizzes from last week with the corrections and a parent's signature (Reading, Social Studies, Math).

Have an awesome evening!

Mr. Y
