Mar. 6, 2017: Monday

Welcome to Final Exam week, with exams in specialty classes. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

This morning at Assembly, our new Angel of the Week was announced and it was the Student Council. They did a fantastic job organizing and running the Movie Day and earned themselves the honor of being Angels of the Week. Great job, everyone!

In Reading/Phonics class, we practiced reading the 'oi' sound, and finished reading An Ancient Greek Myth. The students practiced making sentences with the vocabulary from the story.

During Math, the students tried to tell how long it takes to complete an activity (elapsed time). We will practice this concept more tomorrow as well.

Explaining the advantages of diversity in countries was our objective in Social Studies. The students had some small group work first to discuss these advantages, and then to research in the textbook how people show their diversity in his/her community.

For Science, the students described the water cycle and began making a poster.

HOMEWORK:
1) Social Studies World Passport - please choose a country you want to research, follow the instructions on the worksheet, answer the questions, and cut out the passport. On the back of the passport, be sure to discuss how your culture is the same and different than the country you are researching. Please note that this assignment is due on Thursday, March 9th. Feel free to complete it early if you wish.

2) Reading Log

3) Invention Convention - some students need to further their ideas on an invention, or create a new one. Please try to have a new idea for tomorrow.

NOTICES:
- Chinese and Art final exams on Wednesday
- Christian Living and Music final exams on Thursday
- Secret Message - jellyfish
- Health, PE, and Computer exams on Friday, along with a spelling test

Have a great evening!

Mr. Yaremchuk
