Assembly was the first item on today's agenda. We had two more students share the Angel of the Week award: Emma in Grade 5 and Vivian in Grade 1.
In Reading and Phonics, we worked on our new spelling words and then in small groups to tell the different parts of "The Trial of Cardigan Jones."
Math consisted of rounding numbers to the nearest dollar or ten dollar. REMEMBER: the cents will always be zero (0) when rounding money to the nearest dollar or ten dollar.
We identified and described physical features on Earth with a focus on landforms and bodies of water. The students had to make some physical features with PlayDoh.
Finally, Science and ECA was full of designing and building. We have started our final Unit project (instead of a unit test). The students had to plan and design a tower that will be made out of straws and tape. It has to be a minimum of 30cm tall and the goal is to have the tower hold books on the top. They are given scissors, tape, and 65 straws. They were off to a great start today!
HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 17
2) Science p. 85
3) Reading Logs - please not that I will not give a percentage mark for this week, and rather just a Dojo point for each night the Reading Log was completed.
NOTICES:
- there is a typhoon nearing Taiwan, and we will keep a close eye on it as it could arrive on Wednesday.
- no spelling test this week, the new words are for September 23
Have a great evening!
Mr. Y
