Sept. 22, 2016

Good evening, everybody!

Today in Language Arts/Reading, we only had 2 sessions of Daily 5 as we were busy with creating two beginning sentences for the personal narratives, reviewing how to connect with the text, making plural nouns with words that end with x, ch, sh, s, and z, and also reviewing the quiz on Cardigan Jones.

In Social Studies, we read and interpreted elevation maps of Taiwan, Canada, and USA, and began to make an elevation map of Taiwan as well.

We estimated sums by rounding or using compatible numbers in Math, as well as played some addition games.

ECA was an exciting time to test the straw towers the students designed and built for Science. Each tower was designed differently, so it was great to see how each of them performed. Each group's tower was able to support some books, but the tower that supported the most books was Georgia's and Victoria's. Congratulations on building a tower that held 20 books!! But a really, really great job to all students for using the design process to design, redesign, build, and test their tower. The best way to complete the tower was by having exceptional teamwork, which is what each group did. Way to go!
