Sept. 19, 2016

Welcome back from a long, long weekend. I sure hope everybody is safe and sound from strong Typhoon Meranti.

Just like every Monday morning, we began the day in the gym for Assembly. We had a guest speaker come to describe a new Art contest the students will be participating in.

After Assembly we introduced ourselves to a new student, Joshua. He is already fitting into our class very nicely and he will be a great contributor. We are happy to have you, Josh. We also reviewed Cardigan Jones as we will have a quiz tomorrow.

In Social Studies, we recognized that weather and climate vary from place to place.

During Math, the students completed a quiz on making change. Each student had a list of items they are selling in their "store" and they got to choose items from each other's stores and make the correct change.

The entire Science period was dedicated to working on the straw towers, and they are getting close to finishing. Awesome job so far, students!

We also got to read to our reading buddies during ECA.

HOMEWORK:
1) 6 spelling word sentences - each sentence must be at least 6 words long
2) Journeys p. 23
3) Reading Logs - back to normal where you get 20% for each day read this week (max of 5 days), plus one Dojo point!

NOTICES:
- quiz on Cardigan Jones tomorrow - please study vocabulary words and practice retelling the story in 5-6 sentences (remember to only choose the important details)
- spelling test on Friday

Have a great evening!

Mr. Yaremchuk
